Rating and reviewing an app

Who can do this: administrators and owners.

What it does

A review is a star rating, a title and a body. Your organisation gets one review per app, shown to you under Your review with actions to edit or delete it.

The listing page shows the rating summary and the first three reviews. The full reviews page shows the summary, the spread of ratings across the five stars, and every review, with a sort and a rating filter above them. The sort offers Most relevant, Newest, Oldest, Highest rated and Lowest rated. The filter offers All ratings and each star count on its own.

Before you start

Writing a review needs the app installed first, and the button does not show until it is. Like the rest of the App Store, writing a review is for administrators and owners.

Your organisation gets one review per app. Writing a second one edits the review you already have instead of adding a new one.

How to use it

  1. Open the app’s listing and select View more reviews. The review count beside the stars scrolls down to the Reviews section on the listing itself.
  2. Select Write a Review, set the stars, give it a title and a body, and submit.
  3. Change the sort or the rating filter to read what others wrote. The rating filter narrows only the list below it. The summary and the spread of ratings across the five stars stay the same for the whole app.
  4. Select Load more at the foot of the list to read further back.
  5. To change your own review, select the edit action on it. To take it down, select delete.

Troubleshooting

If reviews cannot be checked, the page says so instead of showing the app as having no reviews.

  • Installing an app: An app’s listing page describes what the app does and installs it behind a consent screen listing the permissions it needs.
  • Browsing the App Store: The App Store lists every app your organisation can install, with a search box, a sort and an installed-only switch.
  • Managing an installed app: The installation page has an app’s own settings, its version and update, the prompts to reconnect, and the uninstall action.
