Add column is the dashed panel at the right-hand end. A column can be mapped to a task status. Dragging a card into a mapped column changes the task's status to match, so the board is where the work is run from rather than a picture of it. A board starts with four mapped columns. New sets a task to Assigned, In Progress to In Progress, On Hold to On Hold and Done to Completed. Each column has an actions menu with Sort by priority, Edit, Remove all from board and Delete. Beside it is a collapse control that narrows the column to a spine. Dragging a column's title moves the whole column. Cards get onto a board two ways. The composer at the foot of a column creates a task already placed there, with an assignee, due date, priority and parent record set inline. Add existing tasks opens a search over tasks that are off the board, by title, T-number or tag. The search box above the columns filters the cards in every column at once. ## Before you start Add column and the column actions menu are for people who may change the board. Everyone else reads the columns without them, and writes cards through the composer at the foot of a column, which is open to every member. A card from the composer needs a title. Pressing Enter with the title empty saves nothing, and the composer shows "Give the task a title." under it. A board takes twelve columns. At the twelfth, a reader who may change the board finds a line saying the maximum is reached in place of Add column. Add existing tasks is unavailable until the board has a column - add one first. Deleting a column moves its cards to the leftmost remaining column. Deleting the only column takes its cards off the board. Remove all from board takes every card in the column off the board, though the tasks stay in your task list and can be added back. Dragging a card or a column is for people who may change the board. Collapsing a column is open to everyone - it changes what you see, not the board itself. ## How to use it 1. Open a board from Work Boards. 2. Select Add column, give it a title, and map it to a status if the column stands for one. 3. Select New task at the foot of a column to write a card straight into it. 4. Select Add existing tasks to bring tasks already in your list onto the board. 5. Drag a card to another column or another position. Drag a column's title to move the column. 6. Use the column actions menu to sort by priority, rename the column, clear it or delete it.
